Get Ready in the Park

Part of Canada's Emergency Preparedness Week

NARC ARES Edmonton site in Hawrelak Park
This is Edmonton's opportunity to show off it's emergency responders. NARC and Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) play an integral role in the City of Edmonton's Emergency plans and so we were invited to show off some of the capabilities of amateur radio and its role to help the public in times of emergency or disaster.
We demonstrated digital voice and data modes (D-STAR), Automatic Position Reporting System (APRS), VHF voice communication and HF short range (NVIS) communication. The centre point for the radio demonstration was the NARC Pac II mobile emergency communications centre. d-star digital TV demo for Edmonton Police Service members
