Guide for the NARC Repeater Network
The NARC repeater network consists of four repeaters
- VE6HM 2m east side of Edmonton near 92 Ave & Hwy 216 (ARES Channel 2)
Tx 147.060 MHz Rx 146.460 MHz, 100 Hz CTCSS
- VE6UV on the University of Alberta campus (ARES Channel 1)
Tx 147.090 MHz Rx 147.690 MHz, 100 Hz CTCSS
- VE6PLP near Pigeon Lake (ARES Channel 3)
Tx 147.240 MHz Rx 147.840 MHz, 100 Hz CTCSS
- VE6HM 70cm east side of Edmonton co-located with the 2m repeater (ARES Channel 22)
Tx 444.100 MHz, Rx 449.100 MHz, 100 Hz CTCSS
Note the number of the repeater above, as it's used in the command codes below.
Features of the repeater network
- The repeaters are normally “linked” together which means if you access
one of the repeaters, your transmission is repeated over all of the other networked repeaters.
- You can link and / or unlink any of combination of the networked repeaters using codes outlined later in this document.
- Most of these commands will work on the entire repeater network even if you can only access one of the repeaters directly.
- You can use any one of the repeaters in “stand alone”
unlinked state which is useful for ARES activities and public service events.
Repeater Command Overview
The following commands were created with simplicity in mind, and they can be figured out
rather easily as they were created by the following process:
- All commands start with an asterisk (*)
- which is followed by a repeater number (1 to 4 as listed above)
- or a “system number” (0)
- All commands then contain a number sequence corresponding to an abbreviated alpha command
indicating the function to execute
- or numbers to indicate which “ports” in the controller /
repeaters are affected.
Playback Time (*Repeater + TIME=8463)
To have the time read back to you:
- To get the time from the VE6HM 2m repeater enter *18463
asterisk,
repeater #1,
the word TIME=8463 on a telephone keypad
- To get the time from VE6UV - *28463
asterisk,
repeater #2,
the word TIME=8463 on a telephone keypad
- To get the time from VE6PLP - *38463
asterisk,
repeater #3,
the word TIME=8463 on a telephone keypad
The repeater responds with the time and date. Note that the first three repeaters
have separate clocks, and the time may vary slightly.
