ARES Activation

----Update As of 2327 11-Jun-2013 ARES has been stood down----

At 18:00 hours today ARES Fort McMurray requested that ARES Edmonton activate in support of the ARES Wood Buffalow unit.

The current situation is as follows

Due to the flooding, some of the Telus fiber suffered some damage and was taken out of service by Telus for repair.  This has resulted in the failure of some communications infrastructure in the sourthern Wood Buffalow area.  As such, and with the limited resources available, there may be a need for members from Edmonton and Cold Lake to respond to Fort McMurray to assist.  Currently we are NOT deploying to Fort McMurray nor has the AEMA station VE6ACD been activated but we are looking to members to be available for both if the need arises.

I will continue to update as the situation solidifies.

Website Upgrade - May 2013

Over the last few days you will have noticed that the narc.net has been offline. Original it was planed as doing some minor tweaks lead to a near ground-up over hall of the whole website taking some 20 hours of time. This upgrade has been planed for a few months now, but due to this being a side volunteer position with a fulltime job some work was delayed getting done as life has some higher priorities.

It was designed to address some common issues members have had with the site. It should be noted that since the discussion of returning to the original website didnt happen, very few issues have ever been address to myself since then. Most issues I have heard (and even at that very few) have come from third parties. It is quite difficult for me to address issues and concerns when I never hear about them.

Please if there are issues to direct them directly to me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. , or click on "help and support" in the upper right and open a support ticket and I will address them.

Please provide some feedback after using this newly updated site, so I can now how its actually working out.
